Experience the raw beauty of nature protected by the legend. Sustainable tourism in the heart of the rainforest.
In Brazilian folklore, the Curupira is a supernatural guardian of the forests. With bright red hair and feet turned backward to confuse hunters, he protects the flora and fauna from those who would take more than they need.
Our lodge honors this spirit. We are family-run, and deeply integrated into the Castanho's waterfall community. Every visit supports the preservation of our sanctuary.
"The guardian of the forest watches over us, protecting the harmony between man and nature."
While the Curupira protects the secrets of the forest, we ensure your stay is authentic, safe, and unforgettable. Our lodge offers an exclusive window into the Amazon ecosystem, where comfort meets raw nature.
Run with care by a native family from the Cachoeira do Castanho region, our refuge is a wildlife sanctuary. Here, the "decor" is alive: vibrant birds, curious monkeys, sloths, and caimans make up the daily landscape around the lodge.
Explore the dense rainforest with expert guides. Learn about medicinal plants and survival skills.
Canoe through the igapós (flooded forests) and witness the Amazon from the water level.
Watch the sky turn into fire over the river. The best time for bird watching and photography.
The jungle comes alive at night. Spot caimans and nocturnal wildlife under the stars.

"Best amazon tour! We spent 4 nights 3 days with Fabio. He's an amazing guide. You can feel that he try his best for us finding all the animals. We saw Sloths, cappuccino monkeys, squirrel monkeys, eagles, vultures, mockingbirds, caymans, and many more birds. We did all the activities that could have in Amazon from animal spotting to tribe visiting. The hotel is basic but has everything you need and air conditioner! And his wife made delicious foods every meal. It was an unforgettable experience for us."
"Una Experiencia INCREIBLE, No dejes de Vivirla! Fabio es un Anfitrion magnifico lleno de energia y su sonrisa y amabilidad constante! Junto a su familia donde me alojé. Profundamente agradecida 🥰❤️🙏"
"We spent a fabulous two days with Fabio and his family. Fabio grew up here and is very knowledgable and proud of the local environment and wildlife. He took us by canoe through flooded forest, up the Rio Negro and into a tributary teeming with birds and mammals. We saw 5 species of monkeys, several sloths including a mum with baby, porcupines and coatis. I photographed many stunning birds.
The accommodation is simple but very comfortable with effective air conditioning. The food was excellent and vegetarians in the group were well catered for. Fabio organises collection and drop off from the airport (it is included in the cost) and that is a big plus! Overall, this was an excellent experience and I recommend very highly indeed!"
"The tour guide Fabio is so so nice, and very experienced, making our trip wonderful. Especially he found out a baby cayman crocodile and showing us!! 🥹 and his attitude toward nature was admirable! We had a great lesson from him!"
We are located deep in the heart of the Amazon, accessible via Manaus. The journey itself is the beginning of your adventure.
